The Metro Show

The Metro Show was held on the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City.

There are many American Folk arts and the art work which has a story and can imagine a story. There are pieces from southern folk art to Dan Dailey's interesting lighting works. Since I didn't grow up in the States and live in New York, it is hard for me to see and understand American culture and humor. So I love the Metro Show since I could see some of American culture through the American folk art pieces.

NY Ceramics & Glass Fair 2015

NY Ceramics and Glass fair was held on the Bohemian National Hall in New York City. It was nice to see 17 century - 21 century ceramic and glass works from eastern and western countries. Especially, I learned ceramic history my graduate school years, so it was nice for me to see actual historical ceramic works.

In early 18 century, people in the world were fancinated by Chinese blue ceramics. Peruvian and east european countries were created many blue ceramics to imitate Chinese blue one.
One of fabulous Chinese ceramics which gave great inspiration for mid 18 century European Ceramics.

Mid 18 century English beautiful ceramic piece. We can see some similarities between Chinese one.
Chinese Ceramics were so popular in the world. Some people ordered custom ceramics for their family. These pieces are made by Chinese for American clients.

In 19 century, because China had a war in their country. They couldn't produce any more ceramics. So European found another country in Asia which was Japan. Japan had a war with Korea in late 16 century and got many great Korean ceramic craftsmen and developed their own beautiful ceramics.

With Japanese ceramics, European were fancinated by Japanese culture as well. It became one of motivation for the Impressionism at Europe in 19 century.
