New York International Auto Show 2016

There is one big remarkable point in the New York International Auto show this year. I could see reflection of vintage car trend. There are a few beautiful vintage cars are shown on the show. I could also see vintage color on new model which was interesting.  The image above is Porche's 911carrera4. The image below is Chysler's

The right above image is Audi and below is BMW's X4 M40i.

The image below is 1967 Alfa Romeo's 33stradale. It was so cute and unique shape which was my favorite design and style.

Asia Week NY 2016

I have attended the Asian art galleries during New York City's Asia Week for the last few years. I studied 19th and 20th century Korean, Chinese, and Japanese furniture in my graduate program, and I was born and raised in Korea. I know a bit about Asian art.

NYC's Asia Week is getting bigger every year. Many Asian Art and antique dealers participate from all over the world, and many collectors are come to the city for this event.

The past few Asia Week NY gallery tours have been pretty educational and interesting. This year a few sculpture got my attention for their beauty and detail.

The image on left image is a 6th Century Afghan marble sculpture at the Dalton Somare art gallery. It has stunning beauty on the facial expression. I couldn't believe it is from the 6th century.

The image on the right is Chinese ceramic work at the Giselecroes Gallery from Belgium. It wasn't as detailed a sculpture as the Afghan piece, but it did have rhythm on its pieces.

The below left image is 2nd century gorgeous Chinese jade cup. Its detail was amazing. I sometimes think most ancient pieces have the most delicate and remarkable craftsmanship.

The below right image is 15 century Nepalese work.  It is so elegant and natural like a real person.  I felt like the piece is alive...

Also, I found very interest on Indian and Islamic ancient painting since I couldn't distinguish from each other.  It is like a Tibetan and Chinese Buddha.  In history, and it is easy to see how they influence each other.  It is hard to distinguish them.  The left image is Indian ancient paining, and right image is Islamic ancient painting.

2016 New York Armory Art Fair Week...

Every year, the Armory Show comes to New York City in March. The show is the number one contemporary art fair in the United States. During the week of the show, various art fairs are open. This year, I visited Seven Fairs in NYC to see what they are showing.

The Armory Show was held on Pier 92 and 94 and it divided into a contemporary art section and a modern art section. the best part of the show is seeing the major or up-and-coming artist's works from all over the world.

The image above resembles a Roy Lichtenstein piece, but it was crafted by Jose Davila at the Sean Kelly Gallery in New York, NY.    The image below is "God of Valley" by Su-Fan Oh at the Gana Art Gallery in Seoul, Korea.

The above image is "Abstraction Construction #26" by Rodney Graham at the Lisson Gallery in New York, NY.

The Volta Art Fair presents an individual artist by each gallery. Since Volta presents an artist works, we can understand each artist's style and vision better.

The left image is I Martorell by Robert Ferrer at the Espacio Valverde in Madrid, Spain.

The below image is Cinematography by Kentmonkman at the Pierre-Francois Quellette Art Contemporain in Montreal & Toronto, Canada .

The art on paper was held in pier 36. Most NY local galleries attended. There was live music performance. It was most fun opening night. So many people attended. It seems like it was New York Art lover's night. The image below left is by Henry Jackson at the Stewart Gallery in NY, NY.

The Art show was held in the Park Avenue Armory as usual.   It was most classy one by American Art Dealers.  I could see many beautiful art works, but I couldn't see various contemporary art works which international gallery presents.

My favorite was the Spring/Break Show. It wasn't a well polished and most organized show, But I could see many great works and potential up-coming artist. In a way, it reminded me of my college art show, but it was fun and interesting.
